Triptorelin Acetate is a synthetic decapeptide and a potent gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. It is commonly used in medical treatments to regulate hormone levels by initially stimulating and then downregulating the pituitary gland’s release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This leads to reduced production of sex hormones such as testosterone and estrogen.
Medical Uses:
- Treatment of hormone-sensitive cancers such as prostate cancer.
- Management of precocious puberty.
- Assisted reproduction protocols.
- Endometriosis and uterine fibroids management.
It is typically administered via injection and acts by temporarily suppressing the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.
